More Than One Solution

Certain people live with a notion that there should be a “perfect” way for them to take in major areas of their life, while all other ways are wrong. According to them, all that is not “perfect” is bound to make them unhappy and discontent. They are always looking for the “perfect” partner, for the “perfect” job or occupation, for the “perfect” place to live, and so on.

Personally, I find this thought pattern to be limiting. By searching for an illusory perfection, we deliberately make ourselves blind to a wide variety of opportunities opened before us, each one of those is rewarding in some way.

Solutions and Risk-taking

People often become creative when they are in desperate situations, yet they aren’t desperate themselves.

When the circumstances are tough, it is a sure indicator that some things has to be changed. People start looking for changes and come up with all sorts of ideas. Some of those ideas might be crazy, but others turn to be brilliant. People are using them to make radical shifts to improve their lives, because they don’t have much to lose.

In Search for Solutions

Our world admires and values experts. If you have enough credentials and self-confidence to convince others that you are an expert in a certain field, you can become an influential person. People will flock to you, looking for your advise.

Experts are sought after because they help to provide effective solutions for problems of our extremely complex world. The fact that sometimes they fail doesn’t underplay their role.

Acceptance and Letting Go

Acceptance is an important part of our life, but it is only a part. As we need to accept the new, so we need to release the old. Continual letting go keeps us alive, fresh, and ready to accept more of our good.

We release certain things (which also includes ideas, relationships, and ways of life) not necessarily because they are bad, but because their mission in our life is accomplished. They served us well for some time, but now it is time for them to be replaced by something different.

Acceptance and Growth

Dr. Carl Jung described the process of spiritual growth as the process of individuation. According to him, in this process we become fully ourselves. We find our own unique path and the role we have to play in life.

As we recognize the process of individuation and align ourselves to it, we become more peaceful and secure. We gain confidence that the universe will accomplish its evolutionary purpose in and through us, and all the resources we need will be available to us. We also become more sensitive to this process in others.

Steps to Greater Acceptance

You don’t need to think that acceptance is an “all or nothing” game, that you either accept all the things as blessings, or believe that the whole world is against you. The fact is, we all can take baby steps into greater acceptance, regardless of our current position.

To begin with, find something good about your life. Dismiss that which you don’t like, and concentrate on that which you like. If you are worried about not having enough money, rejoice in having a good health. If you haven’t been able to establish a loving and supportive family, think about a good job you have. Count your blessings! The less you take things for granted, the more blessed you feel.

Acceptance and Forgiveness

To accept people and circumstances in many cases means to offer them forgiveness. Actually, forgiveness and acceptance go hand in hand. If you say that you forgave someone, but you haven’t looked for suggestions to stimulate your growth from that experience, you’ve made that forgiveness of no effect. Can you guess what will happen? This experience will come back into your life, sooner or later, in one form or another.

Speaking on forgiveness, we often mention people’s ignorance as the root case of offensive behaviour. We say that others brings us harm, because they consciously know no better. We like to quote: «Forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing». This is true, but only in part. The other thing we need to realize is that we ourselves, perhaps, are also ignorant of some aspects of our personalities.

Acceptance as a Learning Experience

«Acceptance doesn’t mean that we have to allow things into our lives that aren’t good for us. We need to set boundaries and be able to discriminate between what’s right and not right for us», said Shakti Gawain. It is true that acceptance have nothing to do with indifference or submission to all the powers which are trying to control our lives. Rather, acceptance is a quest for true understanding of all there is.

Shakti Gawain continues: «Acceptance is simply a willingness to look at, confront, and understand something instead of pushing it away».

The Power of Acceptance

Many people view life as a constant struggle. On one side, there are those who consider the world as a hostile place. They are convinced that enemies are all around them, and they should be destroyed, conquered, or put down. If those persons do not feel so powerful and self-confident, they are trying to get away from their supposed enemies. Their prevailing goal is survival, and it seem to be hard to reach.

There are other people, who are more positive and optimistic about the world in general. However, they always feel dissatisfaction and discontent about their particular place in life. So, their struggle is to change themselves and their circumstances. They think in terms of goals and plans, but if some of their plans aren’t carried out the way they want it to happen, they consider it to be a personal tragedy.

Keys to Self-Mastery

Why some people don’t change as fast as they would want it to happen? One of the reasons is that their spiritual and mental practices are random. They repeat affirmations, go into the silence, and take time for self-analysis when they feel like it. When they feel different, they continue to live their usual lives. But let us remember an old saying that one of the definitions of insanity is to continue to do the same and expect different results.

Professionals and masters in all areas of life should be developed and trained. We all know that, because we all have achieved some level of professional success. However, we often fail to apply the same principle to our life in general. It is not enough to do our work well. We need to become masters of ourselves, learn to control and to unfold all of our facilities. This will build our power and wisdom, and will make us masters of our circumstances.
